I find it quite hard comparing Value Stream Mapping to Agile.

Agile is a way to develop software by following specific principles. It is NOT a strict workflow as many business people are picturing it.

So, Value Streams can play a specific role in a discussion while working under the agile manifesto. They are also quite important for product managers to evaluate a project (and always were — it is not new, just a new fancy name).

It is definitely not a new way of developing software!
